Adam Scott shares audition story for 'Hellraiser VI' after earlier film death
Scott shared that he is preparing to start filming eagerly awaited third season of Apple TV's 'Severance'
Before Adam Scott landed roles in Parks and Recreation and Severance, he was just another actor looking for work — to the extent that he auditioned for 2002's Hellraiser VI: Hellseeker even though his character was previously killed off in the series.
The actor and producer, who has received four Emmy nominations, made his first appearance in a feature film with 1996’s Hellraiser IV: Bloodline.
There, he portrayed Jacques, the aide to Mickey Cottrell’s Duc de L’Isle, who meets his demise at the hands of Angelique (Valentina Vargas).
“Things end poorly. I guess someone bites my face,” he shared with Seth Meyers during a recent guest spot on Late Night.
“My agent sent me an audition for Hellraiser VI, and I'm thinking, ‘Wait a second ... I appeared in Hellraiser IV,’” Scott recounted, acknowledging that although his character "doesn’t survive," he was in dire need of employment. “So I thought, ‘Forget it,’ and headed to the audition, hoping they wouldn’t recognize me from Hellraiser IV.”
The Hokum actor recalled being in the audition waiting room and noticing a producer from the previous installment in the office.
He humorously recalled, “I just kept my papers up, thinking, ‘If he doesn’t spot me and my audition goes well, maybe I’ll land a role in Hellraiser VI too.’”
Ultimately, Scott didn’t get the part, making a light-hearted comment that the producers and casting team passed him up for his performance, not the storyline inconsistency.
Everything worked out, as he returns to horror with the release of Hokum, reminiscent of Stephen King, which hit theaters on May 1.
During his late-night talk show appearance, Scott also shared that he is preparing to start filming the eagerly awaited third season of Apple TV's Severance.
