Karlie Kloss jokes her high school crush ‘friend-zoned’ her before Met Gala
The supermodel shares a funny prom memory, revealing her crush agreed to be her date but never returned her feelings
Karlie Kloss is looking back at one of the most memorable weeks of her teenage years, revealing she attended her high school prom and the Met Gala just days apart, though her dream prom romance didn't quite go as planned.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 33-year-old supermodel reflected on her unique high school experience, sharing a throwback photo with her prom date, whom she admitted had been her longtime crush.
"This was my prom date, who was totally my crush all through school," Kloss said. "Totally friend-zoned me, but we went to prom."
Kloss attended the school dance wearing an orange Dior gown with crystal embellishments and tulle detailing, paired with a black top hat. Just days later, she stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet in another Dior Couture creation, making for an unforgettable week.
"It was Friday night. We went to prom... then that Monday was Met Gala," she recalled, joking that she wore Dior Couture to both milestone events. "Not bad... for a high school kid."
The model first attended the Met Gala at just 16 years old in 2009 and has since become one of the event's regular attendees.
Earlier this year, she made her 17th appearance at fashion's biggest night in a white Dior gown inspired by the dress she wore on her wedding day.
Kloss has also been making headlines in recent weeks after attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding.
While declining to share details about the private celebration, she praised the newlyweds, calling them "an amazing couple" and saying she was "so happy" for them.
