Prince Edward, currently named the Duke of Edinburgh, was born in London to late Prince Philip’s and Queen Elizabeth II.
He is the brother of King Charles III, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew, making him the 15th in line to the throne.
Edward received his higher education degrees from some of the top-most institutes such as the Heatherdown Preparatory School in Berkshire and the Gordonstoun School in Scotland.
He then studied history at the Jesus College, Cambridge, gaining a bachelor of Arts degree after which he served greatly in the Royal Marines.
During the span of his life as a royal family member, Edward represented the now king particularly at both national and international events.
He also has driven his focus towards multiple charity initiatives and also played a vital role at the funeral of the former US President Jimmy Carter.
Since King Charles cancer diagnosis, Edward has been taking up more royal responsibilities carrying out trips to fortify both Britain’s diplomatic and economic relations.
However, on the personal front, Edward walked down the aisle with Sophie-Rhys Jones at the St George’s Chapel at Windsor castle.
Prior to tying the knot, Edward proposed to Sophie with an extravagant yet delicate engagement ring which featured a two-carat oval diamond. It is worth noting, Edward was made the Earl of Wessex hours before the ceremony.
