Idina Menzel shares candid thoughts on portraying Lea Michele's mother in 'Glee'
Idina Menzel has admitted that her experience on Glee wasn't quite positive
Idina Menzel recently contemplated playing Lea Michele's mother in the American musical drama Glee was not great for her ego but excited to work with Ryan Murphy the creator of the show.
In an Interview with Stellar Magzine, the Broadway star remembered the time when she joined the Glee team, “So I had my son Walker, and then three months later, I got the call [to be on Glee] and so I said yes.”
The 52-year-old continued, “But I was still breastfeeding and storing breast milk in refrigerators and little frozen lunch boxes, and I couldn't fit into any of the costumes.”
“You know, you're worried you're not going to work again, and then people hire you to be someone's mother when you probably should be their older sister.” the Queen of Broadway shared her worrisome experience.
While discussing her experience of working in the Glee, she said it was not great for her ego and “sucked it up and sucked myself into my clothes” but she said yes to the project because she was excited to “be a part of that hit show.”
She appeared in the musical TV series between 2010 and 2013 as Shelby Corcoran, who was the mother of Lea's character, Rachel Berry.
The Rent star played the role even though they had a 15-year age difference.
It comes after Idina detailed her exhausting battle with in Vitro fertilization (IVF) while attempting to conceive a baby with her husband Aaron Lohr, who she wed in 2017.
