The Odyssey unveils Matt Damon’s first look as Odysseus and teases epic story details

There’s no one who could make mind-benders and delirium like the great Christopher Nolan; like Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, Memento, Tenet, and Oppenheimer.

The Acadmey Award Winning director is back to conquer the big screens with his upcoming masterpiece, The Odyssey — slated for a global release on July 7, 2026.

However, the poster is enough to reveal the storyline.

The king’s decade-long struggle to return home after the Trojan War focuses on endurance, moral conflict, and the cost of obsession.

With the legendary poster reading “Defy the Gods,” a modern phrase is used to reflect the concept of “hubris,” an Ancient Greek term for mortals who dared to challenge or disobey the gods.

Icarus, Arachne, Sisyphus, and Odysseus are known as the main culprits of “hubris”; moreover, the story revolves around Odysseus, who angered the God of the Sea, Poseidon, by blinding his son, the Cyclops Polyphemus, resulting in a decade-long punishment of 10 years to reach home, according to the classic Homer novel.

Anne Hathaway is playing Penelope, the Queen of Ithaca. Tom Holland stars as Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, and Robert Pattinson appears as Antinous, the most aggressive and power-hungry of Penelope’s suitors.

At the center of the story is Matt Damon as Odysseus.
