Nicole Kidman has shared the surprising daily ritual that helps her stay energized and resilient.
In a candid conversation with Interview Magazine’s Arianna Grande, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that her secret weapon is something many of us neglected in school: napping.
“I actually wind down at about 2 p.m. and go, Oh my gosh, I haven’t had a nap yet,” said Kidman.
Her solution is a 20-minute power nap, which she credits for helping her return to her busy schedule refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of her day.
Even science backs her, brief naps provide stage two non-REM sleep, boosting alertness without the grogginess of deeper slow-wave sleep.
Moreover, the Eyes Wide Shut actress also has other ways of decompressing. She enjoys soaking in the bath, talking on the phone, and reading.
She prioritizes rest at daytime and thrives during the quiet hours of the night.
“I do it at 3 a.m. — writing sessions. I wake up, and I'll write something. Be it a dream or something circulating in my head and my life, and my heart at that time.
I think 2 and 3 a.m. is a very, very ripe time for things to happen because you're in that slightly removed state from reality, but your dreams and your psyche are very, very there and very present."
