Jonathan Bailey reveals the childhood slip-up he believes cursed his own project
The 'Jurassic World Rebirth' star is receiving strong praise for 'Wicked: For Good'
Jonathan Bailey opened up about the project he thinks he cursed on and a hint of theatrical superstition on a moment from his early acting days that he jokingly believes set disaster in motion.
During his conversation with Superman star David Corenswet for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the Wicked: For Good star recalled performing in the 1996 stage production Les Enfants du Paradis, directed by actor and filmmaker Simon Callow.
Bailey recalled at the time he was just a kid and he unintentionally broke one of the theatre’s most storied taboos.
Before the show, he used the word “Macbeth” inside the theatre, back then a word many actors treated as cursed, believing it invites mishaps and terrible outcomes when spoken onstage or backstage.
The production struggled, and Bailey remembers his blunder, which led him to contribute to the project's downfall.
“I genuinely thought I’d single-handedly killed the Royal Shakespeare Company,” he joked.
Elsewhere, Bailey is earning widespread acclaim for his amazing performance in Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good.
