Dwayne Johnson makes rare comment on Brendan Fraser's friendship

Dwayne Johnson recently made rare comment on his longtime friendship with The Mummy Returns co-star Brendan Fraser.

The Smashing Machine actor and The Whale star were in conversation on Variety’s annual Actors on Actors series.

During the discussion, The Rock finally got the opportunity to thank Brendan for his encouraging words at the time of his casting as Scorpion King in the 2001 movie.

Recalling his first connection with Brendan on The Mummy Returns movie,the Red Notice actor called it one of the “biggest franchises” in the world at the time.

Dwayne revealed he was all set to make his “transition into Hollywood” and that was the moment where Brendan could stop all of it as he was the face of The Mummy franchise.

However, the Moana 2 star shared that the word he got back from Rental Family actor was that he “loves the idea and even welcomed me with open arms”.

“It meant something to me, because you took a risk on me, and years later, you and I are sitting here. I want to thank you for really changing my life,” said the 53-year-old.

To which, Brendan responded, “You are too kind, Dwayne. You were always the right guy for the job.”

Elsewhere, the Canadian-American actor also credited The Rock for his Oscar win for the movie, The Whale.

“I owe you a debt of gratitude because when I took The Whale with director Darren Aronofsky, and the crew to Venice, and they applauded for a very long time and stayed on their feet — I’d never been there before,” explained the 57-year-old actor.

Meanwhile, The Rock shared that he was “in tears” after he watched him receiving a six-minute standing ovation at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival.
