‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer leak confirms major Marvel hero’s return
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ leak reveals major spoilers from future release
A teaser for Avengers: Doomsday has leaked online after being included in pre-screen theatrical previews for Avatar: Fire and Ash.
While the latest Avatar film will release this Friday, December 19, it was previously reported that Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers will be screened before the film’s shows.
According to The Independent, “The trailer shows an unknown character riding a motorcycle home and, when they go indoors, they pick up their old superhero costume.”
The character is then revealed to be Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, played by Chris Evans in all of the major Avengers films since 2012.
Independent further reported that the leaked footage was followed by a disclaimer which read, “Steve Rogers will return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.”
Evans notably exited the Marvel franchise after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and has repeatedly denied any further links or a potential return as Captain America.
Anthony Mackie — who plays Sam Wilson aka Falcon in the superhero series — picked up the character’s famous shield, becoming the new Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World, released in February earlier this year.
The British news outlet also detailed how Evans’ leaked return as the First Avenger “has prompted outcry from those who believe the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has turned its back on Mackie’s character and the time it invested into his story arc.”
Though it should be noted that the unofficially released footage does not refer to Steve Rogers as Captain America.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026.
