‘Marty Supreme’ delivers top limited opening of 2025 at Specialty Box Office
The release follows record-setting presales for A24 and strong early audience response
Marty Supreme made a solid debut of $875,000 from six theaters in New York and Los Angeles.
Starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, posted the strongest limited opening of 2025.
The film delivered a per-screen average of $145,900, the highest ever for A24 and the biggest comparable limited opening since La La Land in 2016, according to Deadline.
Moreover, it also replaces Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme as the year’s top per-screen performer.
Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme sold out 92 showings over the weekend and entered the domestic top 10 despite its small footprint.
The film is scheduled to expand nationwide on Christmas Day.
However, the release follows record-setting presales for A24 and strong early audience response, particularly among younger moviegoers.
Moving forward to more limited release, Searchlight’s Is This Thing On? opened to $145,000, while Kaouther Ben Hania’s The Voice of Hind Rajab earned $36,200 from two locations.
Lastly, Janus Films’ Resurrection added $56,900 in its second weekend.
