Rob Reiner legacy special coming to television: What to know
Rob Reiner set to be paid tribute in new TV special
Rob Reiner’s legacy will be remembered on television by CBS in a new one-hour special, set to air on Sunday, December 21.
According to Variety, the special episode titled Rob Reiner – Scenes From a Life will go on-air at “8:30 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. PT on CBS News and stream simultaneously on Paramount+.”
Other services such as Hulu+ Live TV, Fubo, and DirecTV, which broadcast CBS, will also stream the programme live.
The upcoming episode will “celebrate the career and cultural impact of Reiner, tracing his journey from sitcom stardom to one of Hollywood’s most reliable hitmakers.”
Reiner’s famous collaborators who are set to make appearances include Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell, and Mandy Patinkin.
The special will further employ archival footage which “will revisit his own words across decades of CBS News conversations — including his final sit-down with Lesley Stahl on ‘60 Minutes’ earlier this fall.”
It was also reported that CBS “moved quickly to assemble the tribute,” following the news of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s horrifyingly tragic deaths on December 14.
Rob Reiner – Scenes From a Life is set to replace formerly scheduled programming on CBS’ Sunday lineup.
