Britney Spears quietly broke up with ex-boyfriend months before DUI arrest

Reliable sources reveal that Britney Spears was single before her recent DUI incident, having ended her relationship with her former boyfriend who has a criminal record months ago.

The American pop sensation was apprehended for a DUI in Ventura County, California, on Wednesday. Authorities noticed a BMW "stopping erratically and swerving between lanes."

The 44-year-old was reportedly behind the wheel of a convertible when officers from the California Highway Patrol halted the vehicle at 9:13pm.

As per TMZ, Britney had reportedly been single for a few months before her DUI arrest, having broken up with her boyfriend Paul Soliz.

Their relationship seemingly had its challenges over the years since their first meeting at a Chateau Marmont event in August 2023.

Sources revealed to the outlet that Britney and ex-convict Paul ended things months ago after 'issues emerged' leading to a mutual decision to separate.

"It’s noted that Paul’s devotion to his children, while praiseworthy, took away from the time Britney wanted to spend with him," TMZ elaborates.

"Britney welcomed Paul’s children into her home and attempted to bond with them … but she ultimately felt that she wasn’t Paul's priority, which led to their breakup."

Additionally, sources claimed those close to Britney advised her against Paul, pointing out he was not ‘a compatible match,’ which she now acknowledges.

In December 2020, Paul was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to Us Weekly records.

Soliz entered a plea deal and was sentenced to two years of probation, including 90 days in jail.

His legal issues also encompass other offenses like child endangerment and operating a vehicle without a license. 

The pair initially broke up in July 2024, but rekindled their relationship the following February.

The couple reportedly parted ways once more a few months later, with TMZ reporting they have not been seen together since.

Britney was intercepted by police on California’s Highway 1010 on Wednesday night after being pursued for about an hour.

During this period, she was spotted swerving with a malfunctioning taillight, and upon being halted, officers suspected she was under the influence, leading to her detention.
