Chappell Roan addresses controversy after alleged aggressive security encounter

Chappell Roan’s team has issued a statement reaffirming that the singer does not condone any aggressive behavior toward her fans, following reports that a security guard allegedly intimidated an 11-year-old fan in São Pauloer Jorginho claimed his stepdaughter, Ada — whose father is actor Jude Law — was left in tears when an “aggressive and intimidating” security guard reportedly accused her of harassing Roan at a hotel breakfast.

In a video posted earlier, Roan denied any involvement, and her representative has now clarified the singer’s stance. 

“Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security officer,” the statement read. 

“She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them. Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behavior towards her or her fans.”

Ada’s mother, Catherine Harding, also known as Cat Cavelli, described the encounter in an Instagram video, stressing that her daughter had done nothing wrong and that the security guard’s behavior was unnecessarily intimidating. 

She added that while she hopes Roan was unaware, celebrities carry a responsibility to ensure that those representing them act appropriately.

The family had traveled to São Paulo to see Roan’s show at Lollapalooza Brazil as a birthday gift for Ada, but the experience was marred by the incident, and they ultimately did not attend the concert. 

Harding emphasized that her daughter simply walked closer to see the singer and that the guard overstepped by scolding them in an aggressive tone.

While the situation remains under discussion publicly, Roan’s team is clear that the singer distances herself from the incident and continues to prioritize the safety and respect of her fans.
