Miley Cyrus teases ‘super fan’ Alex Cooper at 'Hannah Montana' 20th anniversary premiere

Miley Cyrus couldn’t resist poking fun at Alex Cooper during the premiere of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on March 23. 

The Call Her Daddy podcaster, known for her love of the iconic Disney Channel series, served as both the host of the celebration and a consultant on what fans would want to see.

“I didn’t know what you all would want, and Alex, being a super fan…” Cyrus, 33, began on stage, pausing to joke, “Kinda creepy.” 

The audience laughed as she continued, teasing, “She’s also my neighbor, which is also creepy. She got money, and then she moved next door to me.”

The singer recalled that Cooper had interviewed her at her home years before moving in next door, meaning she knew they’d become neighbors. 

“But anyway, thank you for being this host. Thank you for being so insanely dedicated to Hannah Montana,” Cyrus concluded her remarks.

Cooper, 31, has been praised for offering an authentic fan perspective on the milestone event, shaping the special to appeal to longtime viewers. 

Beyond her hosting duties, Cooper was credited by Cyrus with arranging a surprise appearance from Selena Gomez, 33, a fellow former Disney star who played Mikayla, a rival pop star, on Hannah Montana.

“I love Selena, but I didn’t know how much our friendship meant to the fans,” Cyrus told Variety, highlighting how Cooper’s guidance brought fan-favorite moments to the special.

Cyrus also shared that Cooper encouraged her to open the celebration by driving from Malibu to the soundstage, a subtle nod to Hannah Montana’s Malibu setting and a personal reflection on her own home experiences. 

“I didn’t think about the correlation between Hannah’s house in Malibu and my house in Malibu,” she said, referencing her past house fire and subsequent rebuilding.

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premiered on Disney+ and Hulu on March 24, with fans getting a glimpse of the star-studded nostalgia Cooper helped bring to life.
