Grey’s Anatomy co-stars Caterina Scorsone and E.R. Fightmaster fuel romance rumors

Caterina Scorsone and E.R. Fightmaster, co-stars on Grey's Anatomy, were seen holding hands in Los Angeles over the weekend, fueling speculation that their onscreen romance may have blossomed offscreen.

The duo, who play Dr. Amelia Shepherd and Dr. Kai Bartley on the ABC medical drama, were photographed enjoying a casual outing on March 22, visiting Highly Likely café for lunch before heading to REI outdoor. 

Scorsone, 44, wore a green shirt and matching hat with blue jeans, while Fightmaster, 33, opted for a white button-up and brown trousers.

Scorsone joined Grey's Anatomy in 2010 for season seven, while Fightmaster appeared in seasons 18 and 19, making history as the first non-binary recurring character on the show. 

Onscreen, their characters formed the fan-favorite duo “Kaimelia,” a relationship that ended in heartbreak when Kai left for a job opportunity in London.

Reflecting on the storyline in a January interview with Shondaland, Scorsone said, 

“The Kaimelia situation was such a heartbreak for Amelia because they were such a beautiful match… But life circumstances weren’t matching up, and there were all these externals that made it impossible. 

Since that heartbreak, she’s really been focused on medicine, which I think is actually the love of her life.”

Offscreen, the actors have often praised their friendship and chemistry. Fightmaster told Fr Conventions in 2023, “A lot of our values align too. I bring her with me to a lot of stuff, and she brings me along to a lot of stuff… We have a lot of fun together in a lot of really nice ways.”

Scorsone is a mother of three daughters, Eliza, 13, Pippa, 9, and Lucky, 6, with her ex-husband, musician Rob Giles. 

The couple separated in 2020 but “remain friends and are committed to co-parenting their children in a spirit of love,” according to representatives.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy are now speculating whether the real-life connection between Scorsone and Fightmaster mirrors their beloved onscreen romance, as the pair continue to be seen spending quality time together in Los Angeles.
