As summer heat intensifies, finding refreshing and hydrating drinks becomes a daily essential. Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor shared an easy coconut water lime cooler recipe on Instagram on March 30, describing it as a light and zesty solution to beat the heat.

He wrote, “Coconut water body ko hydrate rakhta hai, aur lime usmein ek fresh flavour le aata hai. Perfect combination for summers!

Ingredients

The following quantities are sufficient for four servings:

  • 2 tender coconuts
  • 8-10 basil leaves + for garnish
  • Ice cubes as required
  • 4 tsps soaked chia seeds
  • A pinch of salt
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Method

The preparation takes approximately 15 minutes and follows these steps:

  • Cut off the top of the tender coconut and remove water. Scoop out the flesh and chop it.
  • Chop the basil leaves. Transfer the chopped tender coconut flesh and basil leaves to serving glasses.
  • Add some ice cubes to the tender coconut water. Add chia seeds and mix well.
  • Add salt, lemon juice and mix.
  • Transfer into serving glasses. Serve garnished with lemon slices and basil leaves.

Nutritional benefits

This refreshing cooler is packed with health benefits. Tender coconut water acts as a natural electrolyte, helping to prevent fatigue and support digestion.

The addition of lemon boosts vitamin C for immunity, while basil leaves offer anti-inflammatory properties.

Furthermore, chia seeds provide a dose of protein and fibre, which helps keep individuals feeling full for longer.

Coconut water is also versatile for use in smoothies, popsicles, or as a post-workout hydrator, making it an ideal summer staple for maintaining energy.
