Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility following her recent DUI arrest, a move sources say the pop icon believes is the “best step moving forward.”

A representative for the 44-year-old singer confirmed on Sunday, April 12, that she has entered treatment, weeks after her March 4 arrest in Ventura, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

According to an insider, those close to Spears urged her to seek professional help in the aftermath of the incident. The source added that the singer recognizes the gravity of the situation and is committed to making meaningful changes.

“She understands the seriousness of her situation and felt this was the best step moving forward,” the insider said, noting that Spears is now actively focusing on her recovery.

Following her release on March 5, Spears’ representative described the arrest as an “unfortunate” and “inexcusable” incident, emphasizing that the singer intended to comply with legal requirements and take accountability.

The statement also highlighted the support system surrounding the Grammy-winning artist, including her family. Spears shares two sons — Sean Preston and Jayden James — with ex-husband Kevin Federline, and remains focused on their well-being amid the situation.

In the wake of the arrest, sources previously indicated that Spears felt “emotional, regretful and embarrassed,” particularly over how the incident might impact her children.

The development comes as public concern around Spears has persisted in recent years, especially following the end of her conservatorship in 2021. While scrutiny remains, her decision to seek treatment signals a step toward stability and personal accountability.
