- Series renewed for fifth season as Atlanta political scandal threatens main characters.
The season 4 finale of Will Trent, titled "Be of Service", has left audiences in shock following the sudden death of Dr Seth Polsbrow. The tragedy occurred just three episodes after the brutal murder of GBI Deputy Director Amanda Wagner, marking one of the darkest chapters in the series’ history.
On Wednesday, broadcast, viewers saw Seth, played by Scott Foley, succumb to internal bleeding shortly after ensuring his wife, Angie, and their newborn daughter, Edie, were safe following a car crash.
The episode served as a "tour de force" for lead actor Ramón Rodríguez, 46, whose character Will Trent steps up to provide the family structure he has long desired.
In a poignant scene, Will echoes the late Amanda Wagner’s words, promising baby Edie that he will be an "awkward man in a suit at your service."
Following a time jump that saw the makeshift family unit through Halloween and Christmas, the finale concluded with the team returning to a transformed GBI.
Will has taken a leave of absence to support a grieving Angie, portrayed by Erika Christensen, while a mysterious figure prepares to take over Amanda’s former role.
Stakes for the recently confirmed fifth season are at an all-time high. Faith Mitchell is currently embroiled in a dangerous investigation into a sex trafficking ring with links to Atlanta's political elite, a case that has already resulted in death threats.
Rodríguez previously noted that Will’s journey is rooted in his "longing for a family," a goal that now feels both fulfilled and threatened by the heavy losses of the past season.
