Heidi Klum reveals unexpected struggle behind her marble statue Met Gala look
The model attended the Met Gala 2026 in a marble statue-inspired sculptural outfit
Heidi Klum has revealed the humorous reality behind her highly theatrical 2026 Met Gala appearance, admitting that her elaborate “marble statue” look came with unexpected real-world challenges.
The 52-year-old attended the Met Gala 2026 at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, dressed in a head-to-toe sculptural ensemble inspired by Raffaelle Monti’s famed artwork Veiled Vestal.
The striking look was designed to resemble carved marble, covering Klum in a pale, statue-like finish.
Speaking to Vogue at the event, Klum said the concept was born after she became inspired by the museum setting itself.
“I was like, ‘Wow, this is so beautiful,’ the drape, and it’s all on marble,” she said, explaining how she wanted to translate that artistic texture into fashion.
Her outfit, constructed using latex and foam, allowed for limited movement while maintaining the rigid, sculptural illusion.
However, Klum later admitted that the design created unexpected difficulties throughout the night.
While the look was visually dramatic, she revealed that simple tasks—particularly using the restroom—became a major challenge due to the restrictive nature of the costume.
She also shared behind-the-scenes moments showing her carefully positioned in uncomfortable seating inside a sprinter van while attending the event.
Adding a humorous twist to the experience, Klum posted a video on her TikTok account joking, “Thinking about the fact that statues don’t get bathroom breaks.”
Despite the discomfort, Klum’s look quickly became one of the most talked-about ensembles of the evening, continuing her long-standing reputation for bold and theatrical Met Gala appearances that push the boundaries of fashion and performance.
