Ethiopian airways are back with direct flights to Pakistan after a 20-year long hiatus as means of convenience to travelers.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft landed in Karachi early today which saw the arrival of Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mesganu Arga.

Sindh’s chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received him from the airport and a cake was cut in celebration of Africa’s largest airline network.

The inaugural flight which reportedly took off from Addis Ababa had a smooth landing at the Jinnah International airport, Karachi.

Four more flights have been scheduled to operate the same route in a week. 

In wake of the new development, the Ethiopian airlines group CEO  Mesfin Tasew  expressed his elation, “We are excited to return to Karachi nearly two decades after we last served the city. As the most populous city in Pakistan, Karachi will be a crucial gateway to Pakistan and the wider South Asia region." 

He further stated, "As the only flight connecting Pakistan with Africa, the planned service to Karachi will have a significant contribution in strengthening the diplomatic and economic relations between the two regions." 

Foreign jets have long since been struggling  with operations in Pakistan but now Ethiopian air   is likely to bring in a change.
