Timothée Chalamet opened up about his upcoming film Wonka and his expectations with the role, which is scheduled to release on December 15, 2023.

In an interview with Vogue, the Bones and All actor shared his thoughts about the upcoming prequel film based on the characters of  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

“To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy. That’s why I was drawn to it,”  Chalamet added, “In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate.”

Wonka has been directed by Paul King, while the screenplay is penned by King and Simon Farnaby.

The star-studded cast of the film includes  Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Davis, Mathew Baynton and Simon Farnaby.

In addition to this, Hugh Grant will also be appearing in the movie  as Oompa-Loompa. 

Earlier in April at CinemaCon an extended trailer of Wonka was showcased, both films are inspired by the novel of the British author Roald Dahl , published in 1964.
