Dwyane Johnson aka The Rock recently opened up about his battle with depression that caught Indian actress Deepika Padukone’s attention on social media.
The Rock gave a statement on mental health that read: “I didn’t know what mental health was, I didn’t know what depression was, I just knew I didn’t want to be there.”
Deepika, who herself has gone through a depression phase in her life, came forward and reposted the American actor’s statement and wrote: “Mental health matters.”
The Ram Leela actress has been vocal about mental health awareness ever since she came out of her depression phase in 2015.
In 2022, Deepika, 37 spoke about her fight with mental illness and also shared how her family helped her deal with it: “It is extremely crucial. Even in my personal journey, the role of the caregiver has been extremely important that’s why my mother is here.”
“That’s why my sister has been so passionately part of this cause for many years and also therefore when I hear the stories of the caregivers, I understand how equally important that is as well, and the emotional well-being of the caregiver is as important as the emotional well-being of the person experiencing mental illness.”
On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in blockbuster film Pathaan. She is gearing up to make her first on-screen collaboration with Hrithik Roshan in Fighter, reports News 18.
