Jennie who is a member of popular South Korean band BLACKPINK opened up about the HBO series The Idol and the fact that it was based on music industry.

During a conversation with Women’s Wear Daily published on Monday, Jennie revealed, she’s “been admiring Sam Levinson’s work for a very long time.”

"I thought I could bring something to the role, " she added.

Jennie further expressed, "I trusted Sam to be collaborative with all the scenes that we would be working on together, because it was about the industry."

The singer-cum-actress admitted how her role of Dyanne proved to be "an opportunity to just be myself and be brave. I didn’t really train for it, or prep anything. Sam wanted me to just be myself."

While admitting that acting next to an already established actress like Lily Rose Depp was challenging, she noted, "because I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It was like, breaking a wall for me.”

The Idol will be streaming from June 4, 2023 on HBO, starring Abel Tesfaye, previously known as The Weeknd, lily Rose Depp, Jennie Kim and more.
