James Gunn kicked off talent hunting for his upcoming film Superman: Legacy, which is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.

The new co-head of DC universe is looking for an actor to play the lead role in his forthcoming Superman movie, as he shared an update regarding the casting call with millions of DC fans out there.

Taking to the networking site Bluesky Social, Gunn revealed, "amazing amazing weekend of auditions for Superman: Legacy."

"I’m blown away by some of these actors, among the best I’ve ever seen or worked with," he added.

Previously, during his appearance at Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum he addressed the rumors around  the casting of the main lead in the superhero flick.

“There’s things in there that are completely false, but I I can’t go out there and say, ‘Oh this isn’t true, and this isn’t true’ without going through everything,” the Guardians of the Galaxy director said.

He further added, “and by the way, it’s not the audience’s — at this point, I don’t think it’s the business of anyone who is screen-testing for a role. That is a very private thing.”

This update about Superman hero casting comes shortly after Gunn revealed that he was “narrowing” down the list of actors who will be playing roles in  DC film the Man of Steel.
