Kristin Cavallari opens up about kids’ reaction to her reality TV past

Kristin Cavallari has reflected on her early reality TV fame and how little it matters to the people closest to her.

Speaking with Peopleat the red carpet premiere of The Reunion: Laguna Beach in Santa Monica, the former reality star revealed that her three children are largely uninterested in the show that launched her career.

Cavallari, who shares sons Camden, 13, and Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 10, with ex-husband Jay Cutler, said her kids have only seen small clips of Laguna Beach and weren’t impressed.

“They’ve seen little bits and pieces, but they think it’s really boring,” she said. “They have no interest in watching a full episode.”

Now raising a teenager and two preteens, Cavallari shared that she can have more open conversations with her children about her past in the spotlight. Still, she emphasized that her identity at home remains unchanged.

“At the end of the day, I’m just Mom,” she said. “They know me as Mom… they know that that’s not me.”

She added that there is a clear distinction between the version of herself seen on television and the person her children experience daily.

“There’s a huge separation,” she noted, adding that her kids view her early fame as “silly.”

Laguna Beach, which premiered in 2004, followed the lives and relationships of high school students in California and quickly became a defining reality show of its era.

Cavallari rose to prominence alongside castmates including Lauren Conrad and Stephen Colletti.

Two decades later, several original cast members are reuniting for a special titled The Reunion: Laguna Beach, set to debut April 10 on the Roku Channel.
