Robert Pattinson reveals what makes a script irresistible ahead of 'The Drama'

Robert Pattinson revealed what he considers the “number one thing” that draws him to a project, offering insight into how he chooses roles amid the release of his new film, The Drama.

The 39-year-old actor told HuffPost UK that when evaluating a script, the most important factor is whether it makes him want to read it out loud immediately.

“If, when you’re reading, you want to read it out loud immediately, that’s always the number one thing,” Pattinson explained. “If there’s one line where I’ll want to say it to people around me… no one has any idea why it’s interesting, it’s totally out of context, but I want to just keep repeating this one line, like ‘Look at that, look at that!’”

Pattinson added that he also looks for material that feels “a little bit dangerous” and can “cause a bit of a frisson,” emphasizing that scripts must excite him both intellectually and emotionally.

His remarks came at the launch of beer brand 1664’s new Good Taste platform at London’s Town Hall Spaces in King’s Cross, where Pattinson serves as the brand’s first global ambassador.

The event also unveiled a campaign starring Pattinson and directed by actor and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Brady Corbet, known for The Brutalist.

The actor’s insights come as The Drama, starring Pattinson alongside Zendaya, hit theaters on April 3, 2026.

The film follows the couple as they plan their wedding while navigating a shocking revelation from the bride-to-be’s past, adding suspense to their romantic storyline.
