Bryce's son, Jackson Bryce, confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram tribute, revealing that the actor died on July 12 after a prolonged fight with stage 3 esophageal cancer that later spread to his brain.

"What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumours that took his life away from him," Jackson wrote, praising his father for facing radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy with unwavering courage.

According to Jackson, Scott remained hopeful until the very end despite worsening symptoms.

"Even just a week before he passed, while battling brain tumors, slurred speech and blurry vision, he looked me in the eyes... and told me he still believed he had a chance," he shared, calling his father's determination "the hardest and most honorable fight" he had ever witnessed.

Jackson also reflected on his father's successful acting career, noting that Bryce earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations and was respected for his professionalism on set.

He recalled his father joking that he was "a one-take actor," with directors often scheduling his scenes late in the day because they knew he worked efficiently.

Despite decades in Hollywood, Jackson said his father considered becoming a parent at age 50 to be his greatest achievement.

"He supported me as far as a father possibly could," Jackson wrote, remembering him as the loudest supporter at basketball games and someone who always put family first.

Following the announcement, actress and former co-star Lucie Arnaz paid tribute to Bryce, describing him as "a wonderful actor, a beautiful man and a terrific husband and father."

Friend Michael C. Layton also honored the late actor, remembering his kindness and generosity even while undergoing cancer treatment.

Born in New York to actors Ed and Dorothy Bryce, Scott Bryce became a familiar face on television through his portrayal of Craig Montgomery on CBS' As the World Turns.

He appeared on the daytime drama across multiple runs between 1982 and 2008, including storylines opposite Meg Ryan during her time on the series.

Throughout his career, Bryce also appeared in numerous television shows, including Popular, Murphy Brown, L.A. Law, Sex and the City, 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Homeland, Beacon Hill, The Good Fight and Law & Order.

His final credited television appearance came in 2024, when he appeared in four episodes of Law & Order.
