Prince Harry, as one of the counsellor of the state can step in for Monarchy in Prince William's absence amid King Charles III and Princess Kate Middleton’s recent medical procedures.

The royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams in an exclusive conversation with US Weekly has weighed in on the concerns raised regarding the future of monarchy, where the Prince of Wales has also postponed all his royal engagements to support his family.

In the wake of all three royals Kate, Charles and William cancelling all their royal engagements, Fitzwilliams suggested, the Duke of Sussex can step in for Monarchy in his brother's absence.

“[William] is a Counsellor of State, who, in theory, could stand in for the monarch in the event of him being abroad or of incapacity,” Fitzwilliams said.

He continued, “If necessary, Counsellors of State could step in for the monarch. There are several, including [Prince] Harry and [Prince] Andrew, who obviously would not be asked to.”
