Jessie J reflects on her emotional exchange with Princess Kate

Jessie J revealed that she and Kate Middleton bonded as fellow cancer survivors and mothes during their srecent meeting. 

The 37-year-old pop star reflected on her meeting with the 43-year-old Princess of Wales at London’s Royal Variety Performance on Nov. 19, in a segment aired on Good Morning America Friday, December, 5.

When asked whether Kate said anything “mom to mom,” Jessie explained what she said.

"She just said, 'Thank you, I know you’ve gone through a tough time.' I said, 'I know you have too.' I just said, 'I want to acknowledge that, mum to mum, cancer survivor to cancer survivor. I see you, and I feel you. Can I give you a hug?' She said, 'Of course you can,'" the Price Tag hitmaker shared.

"I’m grateful she received it in the way it was meant," she added.

Jessie, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, had met the Princess just a few weeks ago at the Royal Variety Show at Royal Albert Hall, where the two shared a short chat and a warm hug.

Both women have faced cancer publicly while raising young children: Jessie shares her 2-year-old son Sky, with partner Chanan Safir Colman, while Princess Kate is mom to George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7.

Kate announced in March 2024 that she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed cancer, stepping back from royal duties to focus on recovery.

However, in September 2024 the royal confirmed that she had completed chemotherapy and went on to reveal  that she is in remission, in early 2025

In June, the Flashlight singer disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis and shared that she underwent a mastectomy later that month.
