Kodak Black arrested in Florida on MDMA trafficking charge
Police reportedly found drugs and a firearm in a vehicle linked to the rapper
Rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on allegations of drug trafficking after authorities say they discovered MDMA and a firearm in a vehicle linked to him.
The 28-year-old artist, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 6, and booked into the Orange County Jail in Orlando, according to online jail records. He faces a felony charge of trafficking MDMA.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by People, the investigation stems from a November incident involving reported gunfire near the Children’s Safety Village in Orlando.
Officers responding to the scene reportedly located a BMW and a Lamborghini parked in the area.
Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicles during the encounter. The affidavit further alleges that Kapri approached officers while they were conducting a search of the scene.
Authorities also claim they recovered items from the vehicles that appeared to match content previously posted on the rapper’s social media, including jewelry and a pink pair of scissors.
A firearm allegedly found inside one of the cars was also said to resemble a weapon seen in an Instagram post attributed to him.
Officers further reported discovering drugs inside the vehicle, which led to Kapri’s arrest, according to the affidavit.
Kapri has faced previous legal issues related to drug charges. His legal representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The rapper remains in custody at the Orange County Jail as the case proceeds.
