A Kentucky woman is facing a child abuse charge after she allegedly used a tattoo gun on her 22-month-old child. Brook McDaniel, 27, was taken into custody on Monday, following a complaint received by Kentucky State Police.

Troopers from Post 15 responded to a residence in Monticello, located near the Tennessee state line, where they discovered Ms McDaniel and her young son.

Upon inspection, authorities observed a "black dot tattoo" on the toddler's right forearm, which exhibited significant redness around the affected area.

According to the arrest citation, Ms McDaniel claimed she had been tattooing her own leg when the child accidentally moved into the path of the device.

However, witnesses provided conflicting accounts, alleging that Ms McDaniel stated the child "wanted the tattoo" and referred to the mark as a "party dot."

In addition to the physical injury, responding officers contacted the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services after observing "deplorable" living conditions inside the home. The child's welfare is currently being monitored by state social services following the intervention.

Ms McDaniel has been officially charged with fourth-degree assault, specifically classified as child abuse. She was booked into the Adair County Detention Centre and is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Court records indicate that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities gather further witness statements regarding the incident.

This case has drawn significant local attention to child safety standards within the region. Ms McDaniel is expected to appear in court later this month to answer the allegations.
