Basketball icon Kobe Bryant's enduring legacy is set to be honored with the unveiling of a statue.

Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's wife, shared in a heartfelt video that the statue will be revealed on February 8, 2024.

Reflecting on Kobe's profound connection with Los Angeles and the Lakers, Vanessa conveyed, "Since arriving in the city and joining the Lakers organization, he felt at home here playing in the City of Angels."

The chosen date holds special meaning, as Kobe famously wore jersey numbers 8 and 24 during his storied career. 

Additionally, his daughter Gigi, who tragically passed away with him in January 2020, wore the number 2 jersey, further adding to the symbolism.

Positioned outside the iconic Crypto.com Arena, often referred to as 'The House That Kobe Built,' the statue will stand as a lasting tribute to his monumental impact both on and off the basketball court.

While details about potential acknowledgments for Gigi remain undisclosed, the unveiling ceremony is expected to be a deeply emotional event. 

The statue's introduction will precede a Lakers game against the Denver Nuggets, uniting fans, players, and the basketball community in honoring Kobe Bryant's profound contributions to the sport.
