Prince William’s new strategy for Prince Harry, Meghan will ‘hurt more’: Insider claims
Why Prince William is stepping away from drama with Harry and Meghan
Prince William is no longer interested in stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles, a British journalist and gossip columnist has claimed.
Rob Shuter, author behind the online blog ShutterScoop, explained in his December 5 entry, “Multiple sources in the royal orbit tell me Prince William is highly unlikely to remove the HRH or the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles when he becomes King.”
The reason? — “he doesn’t want to look petty.”
While a source, described by Shuter as “one well-placed insider”, told the blogger, “By the time William takes the throne, the Sussex brand will be so diminished it won’t even matter. Why take away something that’s already worthless?”
“King William, I’m told, is prepared to do something far more chilling than punishment: He will simply… not engage,” he continued. While quoting another anonymous representative, the blog entry revealed, “Ignoring them will hurt more.”
The debate around the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s titles had intensified following the removal of those belonging to William’s uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Though Ingrid Seward, royal expert and Majesty Magazine’s editor-in-chief, had reported back in May that the royal spare and his wife would likely always remain linked to the Crown.
“Harry is still a prince of the blood and Meghan, instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, would be Princess Henry,” she told The Mirror. “That really would confuse the Americans. I think it’s probably best just to leave it because it looks unkind, it looks unnecessary.”
Prince William and Prince Harry have not been seen together since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in 2022 — the last time Meghan Markle had travelled to the UK as well.
